Alessandra Mannocchi
ESA OSIP PhD Student
Bio
She comes from Cossignano, a small city in Ascoli Piceno province in Italy. She is a PhD student working in DART Lab within a project named “Autonomous Guidance for Deep-Space Cubesats”, born from a collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and the European Space Agency. In 2018, she obtained a BSc cum Laude in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, winning also the “Award for Best Freshmen”. In 2020, she received a MSc cum Laude in Space Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis with the title “A Homotopic Direct Collocation Approach for Operational-Compliant Trajectories Design”. Her research focuses on autonomous guidance for interplanetary CubeSats in the framework of the ERCfunded EXTREMA project. Her expertise involves the development of trajectory design nonlinear programming algorithms, and their integration in hardware-in-the-loop simulations for interplanetary CubeSats applications and autonomous guidance experiments.
